Lean Six Sigma Lunch and Learn
Time…A commodity that has been increasingly harder to find as well as manage over the last decade or more. There is a certain irony in this, considering the “constancy” of time’s purpose. Faced with this challenge, how does an organization continue to train and develop its future leaders? How do we make time to create time?
E-Zsigma’s global clients, representing such diverse sectors such as healthcare, government, financial services, aerospace, automotive and telecommunications have all expressed the same concerns: “We can't spare people to go to training because there is so much work to be done, but to neglect their continuing training and development needs, we realize we do so at our own peril!”
In response to this challenge, e-Zsigma (Canada) Inc. has developed a unique, customized, high-impact and cost-effective Lean Six Sigma “Lunch and Learn” program that will allow you to continue to develop and mentor a world-class workforce.
What Is Lunch and Learn?
The Lean Six Sigma Lunch and Learn program is a training event scheduled over a two-hour period during the lunch hour over a one week period, for four months (40 hour program). The time and dates can be adjusted to fit your team’s work schedule. Employees who attend bring their lunches and eat them during the training session.
The Lunch and Learn program, which can be customized to fit your specific needs and expectations, includes such topics:
Introduction to Lean Six Sigma and DMAIC problem-solving
Establishing & managing a project team
Creating a “Critical to Quality” tree
Process and Value Stream Mapping
Constructing a Cause & Effect diagram
Root Cause Analysis and Pareto
Preparing & executing a data collection strategy
Establishing key process metrics
Data analysis (t-test, F-test, ANOVA, etc)
Evaluating process variation & characterizing defects
Conducting a Risk Analysis (PFMEA, FTA)
Creating and analyzing Dispersion Diagrams
Conducting Surveys and Interviews
Applying Lean concepts and tools
Introduction to Quality Function Deployment

How do I start?
Your first step will be to contact e-Zsigma (Canada) Inc., and share with us your challenges as well as requirements. We will then prepare for you a recommended Lunch and Learn program that best fits your needs. To contact e-Zsigma now, please complete the on-line “Contact Form” or phone Rod Morgan at 613-782-2281, (email: rmorgan@e-zsigma.com).
Location
The Lunch and Learn program can be provided at your work location. All that is required is a suitable training or classroom environment where your team can learn… and lunch! Your choice of location should be supportive of both eating and training. Lunch rooms or cafeterias usually are not a good choice because they tend to be too noisy for the training to be effective. Conference rooms are a good choice for smaller groups. Note: E-Zsigma (Canada) Inc. can provide optional off-site training facilities at convenient locations in downtown Ottawa as well as the surrounding region.
What Lunch and Learn students will require?
Several of the training modules you select for your program may require that the students have individual or shared access to a computer. The computers will require Microsoft Office (MS Excel, etc), but no additional, specialized software will be required. Note: If sharing of computers is required, it is recommended that there be a maximum of two students per computer.
Lunch
Typically, people will bring their own lunches (brown bag). On occasion, to make it a special event, your organization may want to provide lunch for the participants.
Benefits of the Lunch and Learn program
The biggest benefit of the Lean Six Sigma lunch and learn program is that you are able to provide an extremely cost-effective, high-impact Lean Six Sigma training program. In addition, the two-hour per day schedule combined with lunch is a highly effective use of the time your team has, and minimizes the impact of the time away from work demanded by traditional training programs.
Program Cost
The standard 40 hour lunch and learn program, depending on the number of employees attending, will cost as little as $495.00 per person. There is an additional, one time cost of $45.00 per student for the training book and CD. Compare this cost to traditional training or eLearning, where a similar program will cost you thousands of dollars, not to mention additional costs associated with travel and time away from the office.
Projects – Return on Investment
It is recommended that participants in the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Lunch and Learn program are given process improvement projects within your organization to apply the tools and methods learned during training. E-Zsigma can provide assistance in helping you define appropriate projects that will not only benefit the students, but also deliver measurable value back to your organization – a rapid return on your training investment.
A Shared Commitment
Since training in Lean Six Sigma is a valuable asset for your employees, they are making a reciprocal investment by contributing one hour per day of their own time – a shared commitment by both employer and employee. This proven “shared time investment” model is supported by such leading executive training organizations as the Schulich School of Business.
Certificate of Completion
Each participant will receive a Certificate of Completion suitable for framing.
Number of Participants
The number of participants can vary from as low as 6 to as high as 20 people, depending on location and classroom size. With a larger number of participants, your training cost per person will be reduced dramatically.
THE BOTTOM LINE
The Lean Six Sigma Lunch and Learn program will be the best training decision you will make this year! You will be providing your employees with world-class problem-solving and project management tools and methods that will drive significant and measurable value for your organization and the customers and clients your serve. Contact us now to discuss this unique program and decide if it is right for you.
