E-Zsigma provides a completely integrated Lean and Six Sigma curriculum, as well as provides consulting and support services for both disciplines.

Lean manufacturing, or Lean, is a strategy that focuses on improving process efficiencies by removing non-value-added activities, improving throughput and reducing overall cycle time.

With its roots still firmly in manufacturing, Lean has universal application and this is reflected in the rapid adoption of lean "principles and tools" into service sectors, including healthcare, finance, technology, and hospitality to name but a few.

We are often asked the question, "What is the difference between Six Sigma and Lean?"

Six Sigma focuses on understanding and ultimately controlling process variation with a goal of ultimately eliminating defects.

Lean targets waste and inefficiency in processes, with a primary focus on cycle time reduction, elimination of non-value-added activities... getting the most done with the least amount of resource consumption.

At the practitioner level, the "lean tools" are relatively few in number, but can deliver tremendous organizational benefits, as has been demonstrated by the world's best companies over the last two to three decades. These tools include:

  • spaghetti diagrams
  • value-stream mapping
  • defect-proofing (poka yoke)
  • 5 S
  • visual plant (controls)
  • pull scheduling
  • kanban
  • cell design/layout

The e-Zsigma Lean Six Sigma curriculum for all programs, Champion, Executive, Green Belt Service, Green Belt Manufacturing and Black Belt incorporates and integrates Lean as well as Six Sigma tools, methods and concepts - the best of both "worlds".  In addition to this, e-Zsigma also provides workshops specific to Lean tools such as Kaizen and Rapid Changeover.
